Welcome Week at Alpine Swiss Business School is your introduction to academic life, the city of Zurich, and the diverse ASBS community. We’ve designed each day to help you feel connected, informed, and inspired as you begin your journey in Switzerland.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Welcome Ceremony and Campus Tour
Kick off your ASBS experience by meeting the President, faculty, and support staff. You’ll be introduced to essential student services and taken on a guided tour of the campus, including classrooms, study spaces, and the on-site café.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Networking Lunch
Enjoy a casual lunch featuring Swiss and international vegetarian-friendly dishes. You’ll be seated in groups to connect with fellow students from your program.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Student Life Briefing
This session will help you navigate life in Zurich. Learn about student housing, discounts, and how to use the local transportation system. You’ll also receive guidance on opening a Swiss bank account, registering your residence, and understanding basic Swiss customs and etiquette.
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Academic Essentials Workshop
Learn how to access Google Classroom, register for your courses, and keep track of key academic deadlines. The workshop will also cover Swiss academic expectations, such as punctuality, avoiding plagiarism, and understanding the grading system. Study tips and time management strategies will also be shared.
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Residence Permit and Insurance Support
Get help completing your registration paperwork and explore different student insurance plans. Our team will guide you through any required exemption processes.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Meet Your Mentors
This is your chance to meet your student mentors—peers who can support and guide you throughout your first year. Join group challenges and light-hearted games like icebreaker bingo and the ASBS trivia quiz to build new friendships.
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Zurich City Scavenger Hunt
Discover Zurich through a fun and interactive scavenger hunt. Working in small teams, you’ll explore landmarks such as Bahnhofstrasse, ETH Zurich, the Old Town, and Lake Zurich, completing photo and clue challenges along the way. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
2:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Swiss Culture and Language Workshop
Dive into Swiss life with a workshop that introduces you to common Swiss German phrases, traditions, and local cuisine. You’ll also get to sample typical Swiss snacks like Luxemburgerli, Rivella, and Bündnerfleisch.
5:30 PM: Optional Fondue Dinner (CHF 20)
Enjoy a classic Swiss fondue dinner with a view over Lake Zurich. This relaxed evening includes vegetarian-friendly options and a chance to socialize with other students in a cozy setting. Pre-registration required.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Career Launchpad Workshop
Prepare for professional life in Switzerland with a practical session covering LinkedIn optimization, job search strategies, and how to apply for part-time roles and internships. You’ll also receive feedback on your CV and cover letter.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Innovation and Entrepreneurship Tour
Visit leading innovation centers such as Google Zurich, Impact Hub, or Trust Square. During the tour, you’ll meet ASBS alumni who are now entrepreneurs, and hear their stories and advice on starting a business in Switzerland.
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM: International Cultural Night
Celebrate the diversity of the ASBS community. Students will present their countries through traditional food, dress, music, and performances. The evening includes a DJ, games, and prizes for the most creative presentations and best performances.
